Dr Bruce Bolam is Executive Manager, Programs, at VicHealth, the world’s first health promotion foundation. He is also Co-Director of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Leadership in Health Promotion hosted by VicHealth.
Dr Bolam’s obtained his PhD from the University of the West of England where he investigated the social psychology of health inequalities. He is a Fellow of both the Public Health Association of Australia and the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
VicHealth has a ten-year Action Agenda for Health Promotion, which includes VicHealth’s Mental Wellbeing Strategy. Youth as a critical period for social and emotional development that is characterised by important transitions – and a time of high risk for young people to develop mental illness, and is therefore a key window for health promotion action. In 2016–19, VicHealth is working with young people and partner organisations to build environments supporting a healthier youth for all Victorians. By working with partners in education, workplaces, sports, digital and other environments VicHealth will improve physical and mental health and wellbeing across the whole population.
